JOHN GLACIER ON FORMULATION

The enigmatic East London rapper John Glacier has been gearing up for her debut album, SHILOH: Lost For Words, dropping enticing singles like 'Icing' in the run-up. In 2019, Vegyn opened up his studio space to Glacier, and now, almost two years later, the 12-track album made up of brief songs has arrived. One track that stands out is 'On Formulation', maybe because it's the melancholic song on the album. 'On Formulation' opens with downcast synthesiser chords, accompanied by a wooly drum beat. The production is cocooned in warm electronic ambience, a strong trait of Vegyn's production. John Glacier's tone of voice is authentically dreary, and one line in particular sticks out, leaving a stain: 'It all will fade away, not much to save up grace'. Listen to John Glacier's 'On Formulation' here. -Ellie Rose-Davies
